First time in Bali? This route helps you see more without wasting time going back and forth.

Why This Route Works for First-Timers

Bali covers more ground than most visitors expect, and rushing between regions is the most common mistake first-timers make.

This itinerary spaces it out properly: 3 nights in Ubud, 2 nights in Canggu or Seminyak, then Uluwatu and Nusa Penida to finish.

Your Day-by-Day Bali Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive and Settle into Ubud
Check in, explore Ubud Art Market, and walk Monkey Forest Road. Save the sightseeing for tomorrow.
Day 2: See the Best of Ubud
Visit Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Tirta Empul Temple, and the Sacred Monkey Forest. Monkey Forest is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last entry at 5:00 PM, so it is best visited earlier in the day.
Day 3: Explore More of Central Bali
Watch the Mount Batur sunrise, stop by a waterfall like Tegenungan or Kanto Lampo, and visit local craft villages. It is a great final day in Ubud before heading south.
Day 4: Head to Canggu or Seminyak
Move south and settle into beach life. Canggu is livelier with surf spots and cafes. Seminyak suits couples and those after a more polished dining scene.
Day 5: Slow Morning and Tanah Lot Sunset
Take it easy in the morning, then head to Tanah Lot in the late afternoon for one of Bali’s most iconic sunsets.
Day 6: Uluwatu Cliffs, Beaches, and Kecak Dance
Visit Uluwatu Temple in the late afternoon, then stay for the Kecak dance at 6:00 PM. Gates open from 4:00 PM, and arriving early gives you a better chance of getting a good seat.
Day 7: Day Trip to Nusa Penida
Take a fast boat from Sanur and visit Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Angel’s Billabong. Arrange a local driver in advance.

Transport Tips: How to Get Around Bali

Getting around Bali is easy for short rides with apps like Gojek, Grab, or Bluebird. If you are planning a full day of sightseeing, a self-drive rental or private driver usually makes much more sense.

Self-drive rental:Car hire with a private driver:
Freedom to go at your own pace. Best for confident drivers with an International Driving Permit. The easier option for most visitors. Local drivers know the roads and the shortcuts.

Before You Go:

  • Book Nusa Penida fast boats from Sanur in advance during peak season.
  • Most temples require a sarong. Rentals are available at the entrance.
  • Agree on your driver’s itinerary and price the night before, not on the morning of your trip.
